Farmers Market - Sigh

It seems everyone is talking about the great stuff they are getting at their farmers market. I am so stinking jealous.

Why is it that places with shorter growing seasons - Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania for example - still have farmers markets but in Mississippi where the growing season lasts all year, ours ends in August?

I did find a list of farmers markets in Mississippi, and apparently there are a few in counties close to me that I need to check out.

I have not given up on my quest for good, descent, affordable produce in Mississippi!
